Les Thiessen, P.Eng
Principal
Les Thiessen, P.Eng. is a civil engineering graduate of the University of British Columbia (1987). He has been the managing Principal of SNT Engineering Ltd. since 2009 while remaining in a hands-on role with many projects throughout BC. Project related experience includes bridge design, hydrotechnical analysis, construction management and EOR services. His major clients include numerous government agencies and corporations that require access solutions for both the recreation and resource sectors. Les has worked closely with clients since 2010 as a key consultant delivering their multi-million-dollar capital infrastructure programs.
Prior to becoming Principal at SNT Engineering, Les was the Regional Bridge Engineer for the Ministry of Forests, Southern Interior Region based in Nelson, BC. He was the approval authority for over 200 major bridge and culverts construction projects. Les also ensured the safety of all main road systems by coordinating regular inspections and maintenance program for over 1000 structures.
Carmen DiPasquale, P.Eng
Structural Engineer
Carmen DiPasquale, P.Eng. is a civil engineering graduate of the University of British Columbia (2008). He is a Structural Engineer with experience in heavy industrial, mineral processing, hydropower, bridges, and residential construction sectors. From front-end concepts and estimates to detailed design through to field review, Carmen is able to provide designs in concrete, steel, wood, and masonry materials. With a personal interest in construction, there is plenty of hands-on experience to draw from. These skills developed in and out of the office allow him to develop structural solutions that are effective, practical, and constructible.
Carmen has a background that allows him to work effectively across disciplines and industries, with clients and contractors, and on projects from mini to mega.
Carson Stauffer, P.Eng
Civil Engineer
Carson Stauffer, P.Eng. is a Civil Engineering graduate of the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Carson brings to the team broad engineering knowledge from working on bridge, municipal, industrial, and specialized remote access construction sites. Carson has found success providing creative solutions to clients problems by working together with all stakeholders. With his extensive field experience and time spent working closely with construction experts, he can bring practical, effective solutions to any design challenge.
Mike Davies
Senior Engineering Technologist
Mike Davies joined SNT in April 2019 and brings a strong and diverse skill set with more than 26 years of experience as an Engineering Technologist.
Mike has 3 years of post-secondary education in the field of electrical engineering (UVIC) and has applied this background, along with his creative and operational aptitudes to become adept in many key areas. The highlights of Mike’s experience include topographic survey, road design, volumetric earthwork design & construction staking, civil, structural and architectural design, study management, cost estimating, project scheduling and contract administration. At SNT, Mike works closely with clients and partners to achieve project deadlines and to ensure that all technical details are addressed and deliverables are complete.
Rudi van der Merwe
Civil / Survey Technologist
Rudi is a technologist and developer who has worked with SNT Engineering since 2016. Coming from a background as a software developer, Rudi brings a diverse set of skills to the team.
Rudi’s tasks at SNT includes topographic survey, UAV aerial survey, terrain modeling, CAD design, CAD development, geospatial data management and software development.
Gabrielle Noakes
Project Assistant
Gabrielle Noakes has been a project and administrative assistant at SNT since December 2023. Her role at SNT includes contract drafting, report drafting, data management, and project administration. Gabrielle’s previous experience includes a similar administrative role for Barrister / Kings Counsel Leslie Glick as a Legal Secretary assisting in document management, client communication and drafting legal documents such as subpoenas, motions and affidavits. Gabrielle brings a variety of administrative skills and experience from working in other roles such as a K-12 School Receptionist / Event Planner, as well as General Manager of a casual, fine dining restaurant.
